The Salvation Army
More than 300,000 people across Australia in both metropolitan and rural areas will be assisted by The Salvation Army this Christmas. Over the Christmas period many people struggle to make ends meet. This year has taken its strain on many Australian families and The Salvation Army services have witnessed an increase in the number of people seeking assistance. Many have lost their homes and jobs. At this time of the year we find that there is an increase in domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse. At this time of year there is an increase in financial pressures on families and in relationship breakdowns. Domestic violence also increases at this time of year as does drug and alcohol abuse. With the support of the Australian community, this Christmas The Salvation Army expects to provide more that $10million worth of food vouchers, hampers and toys to people in need. We are providing in excess of 100,000 food vouchers and hampers. Additionally The Salvation Army is planning to provide Christmas lunch to over 8,000 people around the country as well as providing 9,000 beds. This will include the distribution of nearly a quarter of a million toys, so your assistance is vital in us being able to continue our work.. You can help people in our community this Christmas whether lonely or struggling to make ends meet, by supporting The Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal through the Simply Giving Program. Toys selected will be distributed in accordance to the need within our various Community Service Centres. We provide gifts for children from 0-16 yrs old. Your gift will make a difference this Christmas to someone less fortunate.
